Areas of Professional Study and Interest

Anna Kaiwahine McCorriston Kaanga, CPS/CAP, is the Office Manager/Administrative Assistant for Political Science, History, and Religion. She is an alumni of the Kamehameha Schools and BYU-Hawaiʻi. She began her college years at The Church College of Hawaiʻi and the Polynesian Cultural Center where she met and married her husband, Ray. She was able to finish her degree in Office Management at BYU-Hawaiʻi alongside one of her twelve children. She is the proud Nan/Kupuna of twenty-four grandchildren. Anna is a charter member of the campus Mahalo No Ka Hana Chapter which is part of the Hawaiʻi Division, SouthWest District International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). She received two professional ratings: CPS (Certified Professional Secretary) and CAP (Certified Administrative Professional). The CPS and CPA exams are based on the premise that an administrative professional should have basic knowledge of office systems, technology, office administration, and management, and know how to apply the principles of good human relations and communications. She has been at this university for twenty-five years and looks forward to many more years of making and meeting new friends.
